Pattern and texture

Pattern

Pattern photography utilizes elements that are repeated. The repetition of lines, shapes, tones or colour can create interesting images. There are photographers who use the pattern as the main subject of an image while others use it to enhance the overall composition and look of the photograph. A pattern in our photo can draw our attention to a different perspective. It can be found everywhere it is the repetition of a visual element in the composition.

Texture

When talking about photography texture refers to the visual quality of the surface of an object, revealed through variances in shape, tone and colour depth. Texture brings life and vibrancy to images that would otherwise appear flat and uninspiring. For example taking picture of a forest or going closer and emphasizing the surface of the trunk of the tree. From an image you can feel that rough touch to it and interesting details.

On my shoot I stayed inside. On one example I took a photo of a sponge where you can see the texture of it. Another example is a photo of paper towel quite a close-up one making the pattern stand out. The last photo of the original shoots is the glass of our front door not really recognisable.
